SCHOLARS were urged to study and develop Islamic astronomy as the knowledge determined the progression of Muslim calendars.
This was said by Yang Berhormat Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri
Setia Dr Ustaz Hj Yahya Hj Ibrahim, the Chief Syariah Judge during the
launch of the UNISSA-UniSZA Islamic Astronomy Certificate course 2014
this morning.
"In actuality, this knowledge gained the least position within the aspects of research and writings.
While in fact in reality, this knowledge is the basic knowledge found
in an Islamic civilisation and was also the main knowledge that was
emphasised by intellectual Muslim scholars in the early years of Islam,"
he said in his speech.
